5 Small Street revisited - basegame

Here is my improved basegame version of 5 Small Street.  As in my previous post, I added an attic to the house, changing it from a 2 bedroom house to a 4 bedroom house.

I changed the attic floorplan on this one, because I wasn't happy with my roof possibilities.  I decided to rearrange a bit, and I was able to add a balcony to the back.  I figured a balcony off of a bedroom made more sense than a balcony off a bathroom. ;)

Attic.

Main floor.

Requires the base game only.

I love your lots. Most of the lots in my bin are expensive too. The cheaper stuff either doesn't have enough space or doesn't have the right layout. Do you still take requests/do challenges? I noticed you did one for nikki. I am looking for help in creating a "cul-de-sac" type apartment lot. If you are interested, I will give you the details of what I am loking for. If you're not interested, I still love your stuff :)

Hi LeeLee,
Thank you. :) I can try to do a request for you. Let me know more details, okay?

Ok. Thank you! I'm sorry I left that post in so many lots. I've never done a blog thing before and didn't realize until after several attempts that you had to approve the message for it to show up :)

About my request:

I'm not sure how familiar you are with "cul-de-sac lots," but it is basically an apartment lot with a bunch of houses that sims can rent instead the typical apartments that share walls or trailer lot.

My biggest want is at least three bedrooms (one of which being a master w/ suite). I really wouldn't mind a few four bedrooms. I want the homes to have a middle-working class feel. Definitely not McMansions. The sims that will be living there are teachers, police officers, small business owners, etc. I love American style homes with an open concept. As far as eating areas, I want a space large enough for a family of six to eight. I don't care if you mix it up and give some homes a formal dining area and others a large eating area in the kitchen. I don't want you to get really bored and feel like you are doing the same house over and over. I want it to be like a real neighborhood and have differences in the houses. I would like to have a private back yard for each house with enough space to place a basketball hoop or soccer net, a dog house, a grill, and a table with chairs, maybe even a hammock (typical back yard stuff). I would also like to see a mix of one & two story homes just like in a real neighborhood. I would also like for there to be a front yard space to place a lemonade stand for a home that has kids and a tree or some flower beds. If you know how to do the sideways driveways/garages, that would be cool. But if not, that's fine. I've heard they can be a real pain. Also, I don't know if it is required that you use a spiral staircase to connect floors in an apartment lot. If it's not required and you can put ormal stairs, I would prefer that. I'd like to have a powder room on the main floor for any two-stories you make. Obviously, the more homes the better because that means more neighbors, but with the amount of space I'm wanting in the hoouses, I don't know how many homes you will be able to fit. You'll probably have to use the biggest empty lot available. I know this is a lot to ask and I understand if you have second thoughts about it and don't want to do it.

Thank you very much,

LeeLee

It sounds like a fun request. I would like to give it a try. What expansions and stuff packs do you have for your game? I have seen a similar apartment lot where someone made a main driveway to look like a road with driveways off of it. The houses and yards would have to be rather small. I have been able to do sideways garages in the past, so that is a possibility for some houses - with some limitations. One thing that might really help is if you could give me some links to pictures of houses or house plans you like, or of a cul-de-sac you like the looks of.

I have every expansion pack except glamour life. I have family fun, H&M, Teen Style, and Mansion & Garden Stuff.

the third link show a single-story home that is built on a slope. I don't want the homes on a slope. That makes things hard to garden. I just like the style of the house.
Also, the floor plans show a utility room in some of them. That's not necessary since sims don't do laundry or ever have to deal with a water heater.
You can put a basement in some or all if you want to. I don't absolutely have to have it though; it's just extra space for family to do stuff like play billiards or make stuff to get badges. Like I said before, my only real absolute is that I want a minimum of three bedrooms and would really like some 4 bedrooms too.

LeeLee, I just wanted to let you know I started the project, and that it looks like with the largest lot that I could build 5 or 6 houses, so if you have any other house plans you'd like me to include, let me know. I appreciate the links you sent. I don't plan on building any of the houses diagonally, as I think that neither of us would be happy with the results. ;) I plan on having 2 houses on each side of the cul de sac, with one or two houses at the end. I hope that makes sense.

LeeLee said...

Thank you. That totally makes sense. There was a cul de sac lot on MTS2 that I tried playing with (I've actually tried them all) called Suburbia cul de sac. There was a diagonal home on that lot. In my opininion, the outside of all the homes were ok, but the insides were structured weirdly. Epecially the diagonal one. I really like your idea of 2 on each side and one or two at the end. Then it really would be like a cul de sac. I don't have anymore links. I really like the colonial homes. I hope I remembered to send you a single story picture too, since I am wanting a mix of single and 2-story homes.

Again, thank you for doing this for me. I've tried to do it myself, but I am not a builder, and truthfully I don't like doing it.

LeeLee, it's no trouble at all as I really enjoy building. I'm glad you asked me. I haven't been playing much lately and I've missed it. I'm not sure how long it will take me, but I'll try to keep you updated. I hope what I come up with will be what you have in mind. I'm having fun so far. I'm only in the planning stages, but I'm excited about the possibilities. :)

I found that link after my previous post. The sight has some nice traditionals The picture shows two garages. I don't care about that. 1 garage is fine. I just like the style. that's called traditional American style. I guess my 2 favorite designs are colonial and traiditional. It seems like the majority of the pics I've sent you are of 2 stories. I'm sorry about that. The sites have plans for single stories as well. I'll leave you alone now lol.

LeeLee, I'm making progress. :) I was only able to comfortably fit 4 houses into the cul de sac, and they are based on the plans you shared with me - with some modifications. I have a few questions. Do you need fences around each yard, or are you okay with the outside items being used by all the families?

The yards are more side yards than back yards. There just isn't room for much in the actual back yards. Do you have your sims rent the apartments furnished? I've been working on adding furniture and decor now. I've furnished one house, but I don't have to continue that if you want to have them rent unfurnished or decorate them yourself. All the houses are built, but just need to be furnished and decorated and have fences added - if you decide you want fences. Here is a link to what I have done so far: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v135/2flower/Cul%20de%20sac/?albumview=slideshow

Wow! That was fast! From the pictures, it looks beautiful. As far as fences, I was going to have them just so I would have a place to contain a dog. I hadn't planned on renting the apartments furnished, but I'm not opposed to it. I've never tried that before. Thank you so much for doing this for me! It loks exactly like I wanted it to but couldn't make it. Don't worry about having only 4 houses, I asked for a lot of space. If you ever want to do something like this again (but a little different), let me know. I have ideas, but no ability :) Are you going to post this on MTS2? I haven't seen the insides yet, but in my opinion, this cul-de-sac is the nicest looking from the outside of all the ones I've looked at. Absolutely gorgeous.

LeeLee said...

I'm sorry. I completely missed the interior pics you had of them. I ust noticed them. Difinitely the best cul-de-sac out there. Trophy worthy!

Twoflower said...

Thank you so much, LeeLee! You're so sweet. :) I'm so glad you like it. I will go ahead and put in the fences. That makes sense with the dogs so they don't run around everywhere. I found some privacy fences that I think I'll try out. I'm also going to go ahead and fully furnish the houses. It may take a couple more days before it's ready. I think I really want to play with this lot myself. It was a very good idea that you had. I may try to build a few more of these cul de sacs. Please ask again if you have more ideas. I enjoyed this project. I love to build stuff.

I won't be putting it on MTS2. I've decided not to upload my stuff there anymore. I prefer to stick with my blogs and LiveJournal. The attention was nice, but it's just so much easier to do my own thing.

I hope you do build more, you do great work. I am glad you weren't bored doing this. I can't wait to play with it. As far as ideas for another one, I noticed in your profile that you are from the U.S. as am I. You may be familiar with the 1990s tv show Full House. If so, I always loved those homes in San Francisco California. I have no clue what style those homes are. They look kind of like the Bella's Belles apartment that came with apartment life but with way more space and not attached to eacher. They look like they'd be really cramped from the outside because they are taller than they are wide, but they actually have a lot of space in them. They are very close together too, with only maybe enough space for 2 people to walk between them side by side. If you like that idea or are familiar with that show (It's on Nick at Nite sometimes) I think that would be a cool cul-de-sac to play with too.

LeeLee said...

I also think a cul-de-sac with homes like your "small street revisited" would be awesome too. Small street is cute and quaint.

Twoflower said...

Hi LeeLee, I'm somewhat familiar with Full House. I think I could build some similar row houses. I like your idea of using the Small Street houses for a cul de sac as well. I'm still working on the current project for now. I think what I'll do is make a copy of what I already have done and playtest the copy. I'll try to add some more pictures soon. :)

LeeLee said...

I had another cul-de-sac idea I thought you might enjoy doing based on something you did in the past. I saw your creation of Bella's House and thought you might like creating the reservation (La Push) Jacob and his pack live on. The actual reservation is next to a beach, so maybe you could make it on a beach lot? That might make things interesting and different for you. There's also a lot of greenery around the reservation to make for fun landscraping.

Twoflower said...

LeeLee, I like the idea, but unfortunately beach lot apartments don't work well in the game. I've heard that the lot sinks just like it does with apartments that have basements. :(

But I'm happy to say that the cul de sac is finished. I will be uploading it soon. I play tested it, and it works well for me. I really enjoyed it, so I know I'll be interested in doing more similar lots.

LeeLee said...

Thank you so much! I can't wait to play with it! And I'm sure I'll download any cul-de-sac lots you make in the future.
